Mindset ….. A lot has been said about it… This is because it determines how we interpret, respond, experience and show up to life. Mindset is a crucial part of who you are and where you are in your life today.
You may be asking what exactly is mindset?
Beliefs you have, general attitudes and typically the way you think about things/life. From the definition, you can already see that your mindset is very important. Your mindset influences all areas of your life – personal, social, family, professional and life in general.
Here are the four key reasons why you should change your mindset:
1. Determines your self esteem
Self-esteem is the confidence you have on your own worth or abilities. Many of us suffer from low self-esteem/low self-confidence. We doubt ourselves and our worth. You may have a lot of justification for having a low self-esteem, and deep down you believe that you are not good enough. Due to this, you are not living a fulfilled life like you should.
Your self-esteem issues come from your internal dialogue that informs how to perceive and evaluate your worth- positively or negatively! On account of this, you find that it does not matter what you look like on the outside, the designer clothes, makeup or money you have. If your mindset about you is negative….. Your self-esteem and self-confidence will also be low; however when you change your internal dialogue… then your self-esteem goes higher
2. Formulates winning or losing perspective
“If you believe you can ….you are halfway there”. Not forgetting Henry Ford’s – “If you believe you can or believe you cannot you are right” Mohammed Ali called himself the greatest way before he was declared one.
Winning and losing starts in the mind. Have you limited yourself through your mindset??? You believe you deserve more, that your life can get better, however; your mindset has let you settle for less? Change your mindset and your opportunities will be limitless. Change your mindset and let it shape a better future for you
3. Determines your drive
Drive is unwavering determination to achieve a particular objective. For you to achieve your ultimate objective you got to have drive, grit, commitment and discipline. Your mindset determines how much of these you will have and how far you will go. This explains why some of us give up too fast while some do not even start. It’s all about mind versus matter. Without drive, achieving most goals is difficult.
Mindset will help to push you past your comfort zones because that is where your breakthrough lies.
4. Facing adversity
The journey of life comes with adversity. Our mindset plays a critical role on how we get through the rough patches in our lives. As a consequence, some of us crumble when things get rough while others soar despite the adversity.
Nelson Mandela soared even though he faced a lot of adversity in the hands of his oppressors and is celebrated worldwide to date. At the end of the day, the moment you shift the way you look at your circumstances… both you and those circumstances change!
Indeed mindset is everything
